Cake Wallet Announces Tor Library Integration
Cake Wallet is dedicated to user privacy, and we’re excited to announce development of a native Tor library within Cake Wallet.
Tor And Your Safety
Tor is one of the most important tools for digital rights and user safety! When using Tor:
- Users receive a massive boost to privacy & anonymity as Tor is designed to blend you with its other users to keep your transactions safer.
- User gain censorship resistance since Tor is designed to be accessible even in countries where spread of information is restricted
- Users are using an open source tool run by volunteers running nodes all around the world!

Tor Library in Cake Wallet
Our friends at Foundation recently changed their license for their Tor library to be under MIT - meaning apps like ourselves are able to integrate their library for our users.
With just a few lines of code (and some testing & working out any bugs of course) we will be able to offer even more privacy protections to our users. This means Cake Wallet will offer the following privacy enhancements:
- Native Tor support
- Monero
- Bitcoin Silent Payments
- Ledger Support
- 2FA
- Seed Passphrases
- Accessibility on every major operating system and App Store (Including open source ones!)
- So much more to elevate the safety of your funds.
We couldn’t do this without the amazing community effort Foundation has made! Check out their blog here to learn more!
What’s Next?
- Check out the code on their GitHub if you’re curious how it works - it’s open source after all
- If you’re a developer, consider adding the Tor library into your apps as well to boost the privacy of your users!
